Open Positions:

FINANCE MANAGER  
This position provides leadership and directs the activities of the Finance function, directing a broad range of financial activities in the organization.  Major areas of responsibility include: budgeting, asset/liability management (ALM), investments, treasury functions (liquidity management), operational analytics and management reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Directs the Finance department in developing and achieving goals and objectives that support the goals and objectives of the Credit Union, including maintaining high levels of service quality, obtaining optimum efficiency, controlling costs, maintaining appropriate staffing levels and ensuring effective internal controls. 20%
• Establishes and manages relationships with other departments and directs the performance of financial analytics to support business strategies, including pricing and profitability analysis, and provides recommendations to the Officers and Executive Leadership Teams.  20%
• Directs the preparation of financial reports and analysis including ALM analysis, and operational dash boarding which summarizes and forecasts Credit Union financial performance.  Appraises the Credit Union’s financial position and makes reports and recommendations to the Officers and Executive Leadership Teams.  15%
• Directs, formulates and executes the Credit Union’s liquidity management activities (cash management, investments, etc.) as custodian of funds, securities and assets of the organization.  Directs safekeeping, control and accounting for assets and securities.  Manages the Credit Union’s investment portfolio.  15%
• Directs preparation and evaluation of budgets, and prepares necessary supporting documentations and justification.  Also, directs the monitoring and reporting on the performance of the Credit Union in relation to the Board approved budget.  15%
• Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to financial management and budget.  Aids the VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in formulating and administering economic strategies, objectives and policies.  10%
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed.  5%

POSITION TITLES THAT REPORT TO THIS POSITION: 

Financial Analyst I, Financial Analyst II, Financial Analyst III

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION:

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• Advanced degree strongly preferred
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in a manager or director role
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, analytics, ALM, investing and cash management
• Financial institution experience

• Demonstrated ability to handle frequent decision making outside of typical tasks that may have a substantial impact on the department and/or organization

ACCOUNTANT II
This position is responsible for the preparation of the Credit Union's monthly financial statements, ensuring the accuracy of all general ledger accounts, performing financial analysis, proactively identifying opportunities and solving problems to improve efficiency and service quality, maintaining consultative business relationships with other departments, leading department projects and mentoring team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare the monthly financial statements in five business days.
• Ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts by having a high level of knowledge of the account's transactions, and proactively research and clear reconciling items.
• Complete financial analysis and prepare various external reports.
• Troubleshoot problems, proactively seek ways to improve processes, report to fulfill consultative business relationships within the Credit Union and improve department's overall service quality.
• Lead in the identification and execution of departmental action plan items in support of the Credit Union strategic business plan.
• Mentor and train team members to improve accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
• Perform duties according to established department procedures and adhere to Credit Union policies.
• Perform as a backup throughout accounting department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA or AS degree in accounting or related field.
• Minimum four (4) years accounting/bookkeeping experience with financial statement preparation.
• Project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to research GAAP issues.
• Knowledge of credit union or financial institution accounting practices.
• Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
• Analytical/critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Organization skills.
• Works independently.
• Good leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills.

FINANCIAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE-CONTACT CENTER – LOWRY
This position provides superior member service to Credit Union members, including opening and closing accounts, making corrections to accounts and reconciling Credit Union statements via the telephone.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Processes member financial requests including establishing new member relationships; online banking, eStatement and bill pay set-ups; research requests; stop payments; wire transfers and monetary transactions.
• Identifies the financial needs of new and existing members through open-ended interviewing techniques and utilizes tools (e.g. the credit bureau) to identify appropriate products and services for each member.  Presents appropriate features and benefits, and explains Westerra products and services to meet identified needs.  Asks for action and closes or refers (“cross sells”).
• Performs all duties in accordance with department and credit union policies and procedures.
• Collects required documentation and signatures from members to comply with all laws and regulations.
• Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
• Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results.
• Consistently demonstrates credit union service standards, providing a level of service that is recognized by members as exceptional.
• Actively works to assist the branch to reach its goals and participates fully in branch and credit union sales tactics.
• Demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Westerra Credit Union in all dealings with employees, members and others.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Sales Aptitude / Cross-selling skills / multi-tasking
• Handle high call volume
• Good verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented, strong organizational skills and initiative
• Basic computer knowledge
• 1-2 year(s) customer/member service skills preferred
• Banking or credit union experience preferred
