I remember my mom tried so hard to get me to join the credit union but I had a credit union and never found the time to join until she passed away in October 2009. My sister and I had to settle her estate and the service we received was exceptional. The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating, kind, and caring. There was no waiting in line. We were seen right away. They knew exactly what to do in our case. Another banking institution gave us the run around, we waited around to see this person and that person and it took all day. One day I left in tears. You don't know how nice it was to receive such great service from the employees at Westerra Credit Union during that time. As far as me and my family, we will be lifetime members. Lesson learned. Mom is always right.

My husband and I have a passion to give. Recently we've been able to help out two different families with substantial financial gifts to get them back on their feet again. We have moderate jobs (I work two part time jobs while staying at home to take care of our two little girls and he is a nurse) but we are trying to be wise with our money and as generous as we can.

With direct deposit through Westerra we are able to keep one of my sources of income accruing in an account until we have enough to help someone out. With the online access I can check that amount at anytime, and write a check to myself that arrives in a few short days, without having to drive to the credit union. Thanks Westerra!

It's been thirty-seven years. Hard to believe, but thirty-seven years ago in 1972, my husband Mike and I opened our credit union account with Denver Public Schools Credit Union (now Westerra). Our financial life continues to revolve around Westerra Credit Union. I recently wrote check number 6936 on the same share account we have had since the 1970s. Because of outstanding service and commitment to members needs, Westerra Credit Union has helped us achieve our financial goals. We look forward to many more years of membership.

In 2001 and 2002, retirement from teaching brought big changes to our lives. First we bought a second home in Tucson, Arizona where we spend several months each winter. Because of the convenience of online account management, ATMs , online bill paying and Credit Union Service Centers, we had to make no changes in our Westerra accounts. We have been able to get cash, cash checks, make deposits and easily take care of all our needs. Second, we have been doing a lot more traveling. We have readily gotten cash from ATMs in Europe, Mexico, and Canada.

I was Born in Kansas City, MO., grew-up from a divorced family, worked several years, went to college on a NCA Grant and moved to Denver. Worked for DPS for 30 years. My goal was to retire from the schools still liking teenagers. I reached my goal and enjoy many wonderful memories.

I bought my first VW in 1968 with a loan from the DPS Credit Union. They held the title for several years. I have bought and sold three homes with loans from the CU. Now I am getting a new house loan, for my fourth home, from Westerra. I have been a loyal member since 1968. All my accounts are with Westerra. I love the service, the locations and growth I've seen through the years. Great people make it work.

After being members of Mile High Federal Credit Union for years, Westerra made it possible for us to purchase our 3/4 acre lot seven years ago. The little 1920 farmhouse had been vacant for two years, and the land was covered with weeds and neglect, but the soil is fertile and holds a water well, which helped us start lots of trees in these dry years. Sometimes it is challenging with the other demands of life, but we process tomatoes, corn, grapes, peppers and other foods that last through the winter. This year a nonprofit organization which is gardening with children is growing crops in our front yard! (Last year we had corn there.) Thank you Westerra!

From the very beginning at the credit union, there was a noticeable change from the bank. We appreciated the free checking, and the personal service received, both at the counter and on the phone. Now the ease and convenience of on-line banking is fantastic for ordinary transactions.

I grew up with a father who was very ethical and at the same time very critical. Throughout my life I have noticed that I picked up some of his bad habits along with some of his good habits. My challenge has been to adhere to those good qualities and to slowly shed those qualities I would rather not have as an expression of me. Every day is a new opportunity to become a better me.

I have my truck loan with Westerra and recently refinanced to a lower interest rate with a shorter term. Fortunately, this cost me next to nothing to do. I am trying to get out of debt and not pay as much interest and this refinance was a perfect way to contribute to my financial goals. Thank you Westerra!

In October 2002, my husband Kevin, my little boy, and I moved from Vail to Denver, CO for a better job and cheaper living expenses. We bought a brick house in March 2003. We became a member of Westerra a month after that through our job. We didn't know what a benefit for us yet. A year later we decided to renew all the windows, a salesman from American Exterior (AE) offers us as low as $9,000 for 8 windows. We have problem to get credit, because our deed high. AE put our credit through Green Tree, the interest was 15%, that was too high. We told AE we were going to look for a lower interest. We called Wells Fargo, they were going to consolidated our two cars loan and the window loan for one 15 years loan with 12% interest. We wouldn't take that loan because we only had 18 months left to pay off the truck and 24 months left to pay off the car, and the interest rate for both loans was 6.75%. We were checking so many banks, we couldn't get any lower interest. We tried to cancel the windows, but we couldn't because we already had a contract with AE and we were running out of time. AE was going to bring us to court. Finally we went to Westerra, the only place that we almost forgot to try. We made an appointment, we explained everything, we got the loan, the interest was only 8% for the windows. We decided to refinance the 2 cars too. The interest was only 4.5% for the cars. Everything was taken care of in the same day. Right now all the loans with Westerra are already paid off. We thank you very much Westerra for all your help.
