Text Messaging and Alerts

Text Message Alerts allow you to receive information on account balances and transactions. You can set up E-Alerts within Online Banking to notify you when a select activity occurs on your account(s). You can choose to have your alerts sent to your mobile phone by clicking the “SMS” checkbox when creating the alert. With the SMS service you can:

  • Check your account balances
  • Request a list of your most recent account activity

To access the texting messaging service, you must:

  • Be enrolled in Westerra Online Banking
  • Have an activated mobile phone that supports SMS text messaging
  • Register with Mobile Banking within Online Banking and have at least one activated mobile phone

How to start using Text Messaging and Alerts:

  • Log in to your Westerra Online Banking Account
  • Click on the Self Service tab, then go to the Preferences and click on the Sign Up/Manage My Mobile Money link
  • Select the SMS Messaging Option
  • Register your mobile phone if needed
  • Select the text messaging service
  • Text the following short codes to 39872 to get your account information:

BAL - Get balances for enrolled accounts
HIST + ACCOUNT (SHARE) NAME - Get recent transactions
MORE or NEXT - Use after a HIST command for more transactions
HELP - Provides a list of text commands
STOP - Unsubscribe from text banking

What are Text Alerts?
Alerts service allows anyone with an online banking account to receive information on account balances and transactions. What is SMS service?
SMS service allows anyone with an online banking account to access their eligible accounts from a mobile phone via SMS text messaging. You can:

  • Check your account balance
  • Request a list of your most recent account activity

How current is the account and transaction information that I receive when using Westerra Mobile Banking?
You will receive the current available balance using any of the balance keywords. The transaction history keywords will send your most recent posted transaction for the requested account. Pending transactions will not be shown.

To access SMS service, you must:

  • Be enrolled in Westerra Online Banking
  • Have an activated mobile phone that supports SMS text messaging
  • Register with Mobile Banking and have at least one activated mobile phone

Where do I send my text messages?
Once you have registered for SMS service, text the short codes below to 39872 to get your account information.

What should I do if I do not receive a response from a keyword I have sent?
Please confirm you are addressing new text messages or replying to a recent text message from the correct code.  Please review that you are using the correct spelling of the keyword, and if you are specifying an account, you are using the correct account nickname.

What are the text messaging keywords and how do I use them?
Keywords are words you use to request your account information via SMS messaging after you have signed up for Westerra Mobile Banking. Each of these keywords will request the information shown below:

BAL - Get balances for enrolled accounts

WAP Service

WAP Service is a secure mobile banking website you can access any time of the day.

  • Check your account balances
  • Review recent account activity
  • Transfer funds between accounts

How to sign up for WAP service:

  • Sign up for the for mobile banking Westerra Online Banking. (Go to the Self Service tab and click on the Sign Up/Manage My Mobile Money link.)
  • Have a mobile phone that supports web browsing functionality.
  • You will receive a link via text message that is your personal access URL for the mobile site. We recommend that you bookmark it in your phone’s browser for easy access.
