Grant Recipients 2012-2013

Westerra awarded grants to 42 schools for a total of $25,315 to assist with items such as art and music supplies, sports fees and equipment, books and after school programs for the 2012-2013 school year.  This year in addition to Jeffco Schools and Denver Public Schools, recipients include schools from the Douglas County School District.  We are honored to support our schools in helping students work toward achieving academic and personal success.  The following schools received grants from Westerra Credit Union:

Denver Public Schools

DCIS Ford Elementary – Books and cabinets for students with disabilities
DCIS Montbello Middle School – Drum sticks and pads for after school Drumline program
Denver West High School – Books for Credit Recovery resource library
Dora Moore K-8 School – Socks and warm-up shirts for basketball and soccer program
East High School – Math and science resources for students repeating core courses
Grant Beacon Middle School – Fitness equipment for sports and physical education
Gust Elementary – Violins for in-school Instruction
Hallett Fundamental Academy – Student journals for Why Try program
Manual High School – Materials for special education class to make items for hospitals and the homeless
Martin Luther King Jr. Early College – Sets, props and costumes for school musical
Maxwell Elementary – Technology for students with speech/language, learning and cognitive disabilities
Montclair School for Academics and Enrichment – Soccer balls, tetherball, jump ropes, and basketballs for playground
North High School – Debate tournament/Civics Club
P.R.E.P. Academy – School supplies for low-income students
Place Bridge Academy – School musical kit
Rachel B. Noel Middle School and KPP Montbello – Exercise balls and equipment for aerobic exercise program
Trevista @ Horace Mann ECE-8 – Equipment to participate in Middle School Sports League
Thomas Jefferson High School – Youth Garden project
West Generation Academy – Field gear to supplement stream studies classes

Lakewood High School – Class set of John Owen's Cowboy Ethics books
Lasley Elementary – Pencils, erasers and books for positive behavior incentives
Mandalay Middle School – Reading improvement program
Mortensen Elementary – Positive behavior program 
Parr Elementary – Personal care items to promote self esteem
Pomona High School – Lunch tickets, backpacks, uniforms and calculators for low income students
Shelton Elementary – English language books for parents and students
Summit Ridge Middle School – Positive behavior incentives
Two Roads Charter School/H.O.P.E. – Rug for kindergarten classroom to help organize and set boundaries for students
