You can refer as many people as you like, as long as they’re not already a Westerra member. Users may refer a maximum of one (1) friend, family member, or colleague during each session and a maximum of 10 times throughout the entirety of the Program from November 13 - December 31, 2024.
While we appreciate your past support, we’re not issuing rewards for referrals made before Nov 13, 2024.
You can refer anyone age 18 and over who’s not already a Westerra member. Adult children and other family members are also eligible.
Friend FAQs
As a credit union, we like to keep things local. Anyone can join Westerra who lives or works in the 7-county Denver metro area, is an immediate family member of any Westerra member, or contributes $5 to the Denver Public Schools Foundation. To become a member, you must open a share savings account with a $5 deposit, which is put on hold and represents your partial Westerra Credit Union ownership. This deposit makes you not only a member, but an owner-member — with access to better rates and lower fees.
No, rewards are currently only being offered to friends of members who open a qualifying Smart Money Checking or Money Market Select accounts.
There are no monthly maintenance fees for either account type.
Follow the link to easily open your new account online. Within 30 days of opening your account, make sure you deposit at least $25 into your account to fund it. Once you’ve met these requirements, within 30 business days we’ll send your friend an email to redeem their digital gift card.
Refer a Friend
This offer is valid from November 13 to December 31, 2024. To participate, individuals must be legal residents of the United States of America and at least 18 years of age. Referrers are required to visit the Refer a Friend site and complete on-screen referral form to refer friends, family members, or colleagues. Referred individuals must be new members to be eligible. Referrers may refer a maximum of one (1) individual per session and a total of up to ten (10) individuals throughout the entirety of the Program. Upon making a referral, the individual shall be designated as a “Referrer” and will receive subsequent communications regarding the bonus awarded. Referred individuals (“Friend” or “Friends”) must complete the referral process by opening either a Smart Money Checking or Money Market Select account during the promotional period. Eligibility Requirements: 1) A Referrer must be a member of Westerra in good standing. 2)Referred Friends must be at least 18 years of age and must be new members of Westerra. 3) Employees, officials, and volunteers of the Company are eligible to participate. Upon fulfillment of all requirements, the bonus will be delivered via a gift card 30 days after the new account meets requirements. To qualify for the bonus, the enrolled account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout. Eligibility may be further limited based on account ownership. Friends are eligible to receive a $100 bonus for opening an account under the referral program. This is the same $100 bonus offered to all new members for opening a qualifying account during the promotional period; Friends are not eligible to receive an additional $100 for being referred.
$100 Bonus for new Members
$100 bonus for new members only. To receive the bonus: 1) Open a new Westerra Prime Share savings and either a Smart Money Checking or Money Market Select account online or in-branch between November 13, 2024, and December 31, 2024. 2) Enroll in Digital Banking at the time of account opening. After you have completed all the above requirements, we will deposit the bonus into your new Prime Share account by January 2, 2025. Business accounts do not qualify. To qualify for this bonus, the enrolled account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout. Eligibility may be limited based on account ownership. Both bonuses are considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT (or Form 1042-S, if applicable). Friends referred under the Refer a Friend program are eligible for this $100 new member bonus as part of their referral but are not eligible to receive an additional $100 for being referred. Offer availability is subject to change. This offer is not available to those whose Westerra accounts have been closed within the last 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the past three years.
