Family, Friends, Teaching, Hiking, Reading, and my Faith. I am a third grade teacher and love that Westerra began with ten Denver teachers pooling their money. I am passionate about guiding children through the joys of learning. I love gathering with family and friends and always look forward to time with my children and granddaughter. I hail from the east coast and treasure time with family that lives out of state, including my military children who are stationed in Phoenix and Germany. I belong to a small book club that has been meeting for more years than I can remember, and will be enjoying hiking my eighth 14er this summer.
I am the proud mom of five beautiful, grown and successful children, three of whom are married. My first granddaughter is now a year old. As a single mom of four little ones, I worked several jobs (day care, teacher assistant at the local elementary school, cake decorator, and professional clown and face painter) while obtaining my bachelors degree and teacher license through Metropolitan State College in 1996. I have been teaching since and even earned an MAE, Lingistically Diverse Learner from Regis in 2012. Although I've lived paycheck to paycheck through all these years, I am now a homeowner of six years, have been able to financially support my children through college, paid for my masters degree without taking loans, help with wedding costs for my kids, am slowly paying down debt, and look forward now to saving for my retirement. I always felt my meager funds were safe in the hands of a credit union, overseen by its members.
How Westerra Works for You
I value the convenience of service from Westerra. Before online banking, I had little free time as a busy single mom juggling school, jobs and the kids' needs and activities. There was a small branch just around the corner from our home. The closeness saved me so much time! I also value that my children grew up with small bank accounts of their own at Gateway/Westerra. Even though we had little money, we always felt like members of a community of financially solid citizens. Thank you Westerra!
