Maintaining its position as a nationally-recognized financial institution, Westerra Credit Union (Westerra) announced it has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions for the third year in a row. The credit union also earned a “Superior” (5-star) rating from BauerFinancial. These company-wide recognitions are bolstered by Chief Information Officer Greg Glawson’s victory in the technologist category of The Credit Union Connection’s first-ever F.A.B. Leadership Awards.
“These distinctions are not only a testament to our financial strength and stability, but our commitment to our members and the state of Colorado as a whole,” said Todd Marksberry, president and CEO of Westerra. “This success can be attributed to our employees, whose dedication continues to elevate Westerra’s service standards year after year.”
Newsweek, alongside Plant-A Insights Group, evaluated profitability, net loans and leases and press coverage over the last two years to identify the top 500 credit unions in the U.S. The large-scale analysis also surveyed more than 71,000 U.S. citizens and assessed 1.8 million social media reviews and 129 million mobile app reviews.
As the nation’s leading authority on credit union and bank ratings, BauerFinancial evaluates federally-insured financial institutions using stringent and consistent standards. To ensure an independent and accurate assessment, financial reports submitted to federal regulators are analyzed.
“Though I’ve only been with Westerra for a few months, I’m inspired by the credit union’s unwavering commitment to its members,” said Glawson. “That dedication has shaped my approach to leading the technology department, and I am deeply honored to be recognized for contributing to Westerra’s mission and for the collective work of our entire team.”
The F.A.B. Leadership Awards recognize forward-thinking, agile and bold leaders who exemplify the credit union mission and are working to create a positive, sustainable culture that develops future leaders. Applications were reviewed by The Credit Union Connection co-founders and an expert advisory panel of three judges.
