Denver, CO – Sept. 13, 2024 – Westerra Credit Union’s School Grant Program is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Eligible applicants must be a Westerra Credit Union member with a minimum of $5 in a savings account at the time of application and be an educator working in Early Childhood through Grade 12 in any Colorado school district.
“These grants are intended to help educators fill in funding gaps by providing monetary support for them to enhance their classrooms and learning environments, respond to unforeseen challenges and fill essential needs for educators across the state,” said Andrea McDermott, Westerra’s Community Engagement Manager. Westerra staff diligently assess every application to ascertain the potential for the funds to have a meaningful impact. In the past, grants have helped educators create “Quiet Corners” for students, funded school trips, provided technology upgrades to classrooms and more. This initiative distributes $50,000 annually through individual grants of up to $500 awarded to schools or departments. The application period is open now through October 25, 2024. Grants are announced and awarded at the end of November. Applications, additional information and a list of past grant recipients can be found at westerracu.com/about/community.
