Denver – March 21, 2024 – Westerra Credit Union is proud to be just one part of a credit union industry that thrives in part due to the work of advocacy organizations GoWest Credit Union Association and America's Credit Unions (formerly Credit Union National Association [CUNA]).
“These organizations work tirelessly to elevate the visibility of the “credit union difference”, advocate to legislators regarding important issues affecting our members and share our members’ voice on a regional and national level,” said Steve Schmidle, Westerra’s CEO/President. “By participating in their initiatives and events, Westerra support efforts to create sustainable growth for the credit union industry as whole, which in turn benefits Westerra’s members.”
This past month, three Westerra leaders were fortunate to take part in a regional opportunity by GoWest and a national one by America's Credit Unions.
Kristina Shaw, Westerra’s Vice-President of Corporate Communications, and Anshanita Peace, Westerra’s Vice-President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), participated in GoWest’s “Credit Union Day” at the Denver Capitol. Along with dozens of other credit union representatives from across the state, they met with legislators to tout the economic and community benefits of credit unions.
