Denver, CO – Sept. 1, 2023 – Westerra Credit Union has launched its 2023-24 School Year Grant Program, which funds $50,000 annually to educators in more than 1,000 programs in Colorado. Grants up to $500 are awarded to eligible applicants and issued to schools or departments, not individuals. These monetary awards enhance students’ school experiences through the purchase of items like art supplies, sports fees and equipment, after-school programs, classroom materials or other programs teachers and schools determine most beneficial." We are thrilled to contribute to educational programs that have a significant positive impact on our communities and schools,” said Andrea McDermott, Community Relations Manager for Westerra Credit Union. "Supporting educational programs is part of Westerra’s core purpose and these grants help educators address unforeseen challenges and fulfill essential needs."
A team of Westerra Credit Union staff evaluates each application thoroughly, diligently assessing the potential for the funds to have a meaningful impact and ensuring all criteria is met. Criteria for applicants is as follows:
Must be Westerra member with a minimum $5 funded into a savings account at the time of their application submission.

Educators in any Colorado school district and serving early childhood through grade 12.
Applications must be complete and include all required information.

Recipients will be notified by November 10, 2023. When accepting awards, grant recipients are agreeing to being listed on WCU’s website and other marketing channels. To view past recipients of the Westerra School Grant Program visit westerracu.com/about/community.
